Buddhists believe that a dead person can be reborn in a good place if someone prays earnestly for the soul of the person for 49 days. “Hi Bye, Mama” follows Cha Yu-ri, who dies in a traffic accident without ever getting to hold her baby and is brought back to life for 49 days.
Thanks to someone’s earnest prayers, Cha Yu-ri is brought back to life for 49 days. If she manages to put everything back the way it was when she was alive within those 49 days, she can continue to live. But she soon finds out that someone has already taken her place, and her own child calls another woman Mom. If you were brought back to life for 49 days, what would you do? Would you be able to put everything back to normal and live again?
As soon as she comes back to life, Cha Yu-ri goes to see her beloved child, whom she desperately longed for, and finally gets to hold her in her arms. She also makes sure to spend quality time with her family and friends, while preparing to say a proper goodbye, which her sudden death didn’t allow her, as if to show us how saying goodbye to your loved ones properly is just as important as being with them.
By the end of the series, you’ll be reminded that the most beautiful thing you can ever do is express your love and gratitude to those around you and realize what truly matters in life. MORE INFORMATION
