Studio Dragon’s New Dramas for the First Half of 2021
In 2020, countless K-dramas produced by Studio Dragon including Crash Landing on You, Hi Bye, Mama!, It’s Okay to Not Be Okay, Stranger 2, Record of Youth, and Start-Up proved to be popular. Here are the Studio Dragon's K-dramas that will be released in the first half of 2021, which the viewers around the world are looking forward to.
The dramas below, which Studio Dragon has confirmed to produce, will be broadcast on tvN and OCN, channels of South Korea’s CJ ENM. The release dates for some of the series have not been confirmed. Whether or not they will be aired on Netflix will also be disclosed in the future.
Vincenzo
An Italian lawyer who works for the Mafia flies to Korea after being betrayed. With a tenacious veteran lawyer, he wipes out the villains by using their evil ways. The dark heroes serving justice by fighting the villains that can’t be punished by law will provide catharsis. Actor Song Joong-ki plays a lawyer for the Cassano family, who belong to the Italian Mafia. An avenger down to the bones, the dark hero, who is more vicious than the villains, will never let go once he bites. Song Joong-ki explained, “This isn’t a predictable didactic story, and the way it punishes evil seems unconventional. It offers pleasure and catharsis.”
Navillera
The drama is about the friendship and growth of Deok-chul, who begins ballet at the age of seventy, and Chae-rok, a twenty-three-year-old ballerino who feels lost about his dream. It’s based on the Daum webtoon of the same name written by HUN and illustrated by Jimin. The drama stars Park In-hwan, Na Moon-hee, and Song Kang, the rookie actor who rose to stardom after appearing in the Netflix Original Series Love Alarm and Sweet Home. The chemistry between the veteran actor and the rising rookie actor, as well as the synopsis revolving around ballerinos, are expected to provide a different fun.
Doom at Your Service
A deadly 100-day fantasy romance between Myeol-mang (which means “destruction” in Korean), the reason behind everything that disappears, and Dong-gyeong, a human being who risks her life and signs a contract to not disappear. Tak Dong-gyeong (played by Park Bo-young) is a web novel editor who decides to risk her life and romance for an unexpected fate that has intervened in her ordinary life. Myeol-mang (played by Seo In-guk) devotes his sympathy and love to an unexpected life that intrudes upon a terrible fate. This is the first romance drama that Studio Dragon will present in 2021.
Mine
Baek Mi-gyeong, the writer of The Lady in Dignity and Strong Girl Bong-Soon, and Lee Na-jeong, the director of Love Alarm and Fight for My Way, will take part in the production. Seo Hui-su (played by Lee Bo-young) is a former top actress who had once topped the industry, as well as the second daughter-in-law of a conglomerate group. She makes all kinds of efforts to enter the new and secretive world of chaebols (family-controlled industrial conglomerates) while trying to maintain her presence and personality with her bold actions. The eldest daughter-in-law, Jung Seo-hyeon (played by Kim Seo-hyung), comes from a traditional and incredibly wealthy chaebol family. She is elegant, dignified, and intelligent. Mine is a story of strong women who break away from prejudice and seek out their true selves.
You’re My Spring (Working Title)
Kang Da-jung (played by Seo Hyun-jin) is a hotel concierge manager who holds memories of an inn in Gangneung which she had briefly stayed in. She faces her childhood after being involved in a murder case that occurred in the building she moved to for a fresh start. Joo Yeong-do (played by Kim Dong-wook) is a psychiatrist who heals other people of their pain while concealing his scars. You’re My Spring is a romance drama led by people who moved into a building where a murder took place.
