“Designated Survivor: 60 Days (written by Kim Tae-hee, directed by Yu Jong-sun, aired on tvN)” co-produced by Studio Dragon (CEO: Jinnie Choi), one of the largest drama production companies in South Korea and global independent studio Entertainment One (eOne), won an award at the 2019 Asian Academy Creative Awards.

The Asian Academy Creative Awards (AACA), held at the end of each year in Singapore, is the largest award ceremony for media contents in Asia that reviews the content industry and gives out awards for the contents of the year. “Designated Survivor: 60 Days” was awarded the Best Adaptation of an Existing Format, an award given to successful remakes of existing international contents. This is the second award in a row given to a work by Studio Dragon after “Life on Mars,” which won an award for the same category in 2018.

“Designated Survivor: 60 Days” was a remake of the popular eOne TV show “Designated Survivor” starring Kiefer Sutherland. With detailed localization reflecting the political and diplomatic situation as well as the public sentiment in Korea, it earned favorable reviews for living up to the expectations of the fans of the original series. The view rates gradually increased during the broadcast, and the last episode reached an average view rate of 6.2% and the highest view rate of 7.9%, confirming the popularity of the show.

The producer of “Designated Survivor: 60 Days,” Jeong Se-ryeong, commented, “I thank all the staff and actors who participated in the series. Without them, we would never have achieved such a wonderful result. I’m proud to think that this award has given the chance for Korea’s competence in content production to be acknowledged.”
